July 6-9 Encuentro 2000..  Encuentro 2000 will be an opportunity to celebrate the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000 and to dialogue together as brothers and sisters among the many cultures which form the Body of Christ. It will be an opportunity for the Church in the United States to gather, to engage in profound conversations about life and faith, to worship together, to learn from each other, to forgive one another and be reconciled, to acknowledge our unique histories, and to discover ways in which we, as Catholic communities, can be one Church yet come from diverse cultures and ethnicities.  Call 202-541-3413 for details.

July 9.  The Vatican is asking for artists behind bars to send original works on postcards or paper to them for a Jubilee contest.  The artwork should have a religious character.  Winners will have their work published in a special catalogue on the Jubilee Day for Prisoners.  To qualify, entries must at the central chaplain's coordinating office by Feb 2000 at Via Arenula 70, Rome 00186.  Requests for info can be attained via email at ispcapp@giustizia.it.

July 26. The Great Challenge for the Cursillo Movement * To Evangelize the Realms of this World*.
According to the Vatican Committee for Preparations for the Jubilee, the Cursillo movement will gather some 50,000 members in Rome for a Jubilee Day in July, 2000.
